Application Of Enzymes In Pulp And Paper Industry

Jun 01, 2021

Bleaching promotion

Xylanase can be used to promote ECF and TCF bleaching of kraft pulp, which can save the bleaching agent and/or improve the brightness of the pulp after bleaching.

Fiber modification and deinking

Amylase and cellulase used in fiber modification and deinking can promote ink removal and improve the brightness of deinked pulp; To improve the water filtration and the softness of toilet paper.

Lignin modification/wastewater treatment

Laccase can be used in lignin modification and wastewater treatment to improve the wet strength of the pulp containing mechanical pulp and reduce the wastewater chroma and BOD / COD value.

Hydrogen peroxide control

Catalase can monitor and optimize the amount of hydrogen peroxide in bleaching. After bleaching, the residual hydrogen peroxide can be degraded by adding catalase.

Resin barrier control

In the process of papermaking with mechanical pulp, lipase can be used to control the resin barrier, which can improve the paper strength, reduce the paper defects, shorten the downtime, and reduce the cleaning times of paper blanket and roller, so as to improve the paper quality and increase the economic benefits of production.

Starch modification

Amylase makes it possible for paper mills to modify the original starch on-site for surface coating and sizing, which is more economical and practical than purchasing commercial modified starch directly.
